Oakland-based casual dining smartphone app company NoWait has raised a $10 million series B round of funding from Columbus, Ohio-based Drive Capital. NoWait co-founder announced the funding to a crowd of more than 600 at Stage AE on the North Shore during South Side-based startup incubator AlphaLab's Demo Day. NoWait got its start more than three years ago as an AlphaLab company.

A company news release said the $10 million will go toward improved engineering to support the technology, new products and services and toward adding new restaurants and customers to the network.

"Our restaurant customers are seeking more ways to enhance their business while delighting their customers and our consumers want the most enjoyable, hassle-free dining experience," said CEO Ware Sykes in the release. "Leveraging Drive Capital's unique combination of West Coast pedigree with Midwest sensibility will enable us to grow our network faster and meet this demand for richer features such as reservations, guest data and more."
