Wesco to expand Canada presence with LaPrairie acquisition

Wesco International Inc., based on Pittsburgh's South Side, announced today it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire LaPrairie Inc., based in Newmarket, Ontario.

The closing is expected to occur next month. The acquistion will expand Wesco’s prescence in Canada.

LaPrairie is a wholesale distributor of electrical products servicing the transmission, distribution and substation needs for utilities and utility contractors across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. The company has been in business 25 years and generates about $30 million in annual revenue from a single location in Newmarket, Ontario.
