Police are investigating the death of a man in Wilkinsburg who apparently had been shot in his car.

The incident occurred around 7:15 tonight at Hay Street and Hill Street.

A woman who lived nearby said she found the man slumped over the front seat of a bullet-riddled car and performed CPR on him until medics arrived.

"I was inside [her home] and my nephew came in and said there's a boy outside," the woman, Sonya Amherst, said. "We came out and he was just slumped over in the front seat."

Ms. Amherst said she performed CPR on the man. He later died at UPMC Presbyterian, according to the county medical examiner.

Ms. Amherst said she did not know the man nor did she know who might have shot him.

Wilkinsburg police were at the scene but declined to release details.

The man was pronounced dead at 7:44 p.m. There was no cause of death as of this evening and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, according to the medical examiner's office.
