A Homewood man pleaded guilty today to charges he inappropriately touched one girl and had sex with another while working as a teacher at Pittsburgh Perry Traditional Academy.

Michael White, 30, pleaded guilty to numerous charges as part of a deal with the Allegheny County district attorney's office, which said today it plans to ask for "significant prison time" during a sentencing hearing in February.

Mr. White was charged in February with grabbing the breasts and buttocks of a 15-year-old student on multiple occasions. He resigned from the school district.

Mr. White was charged in a second case in March, when a 16-year-old girl told Pittsburgh police Mr. White told her she had to do “lap dances” for male students in her class and kissed her. The girl told police she and Mr. White had sex three times and that at least once they drank alcohol and smoked marijuana together.

Mike Manko, spokesman for the district attorney’s office, said in a statement that the victims in each case agreed to a plea deal.

“In any sexual assault case where the victims are children we will always try to come to an acceptable resolution that allows the victims to avoid having to relive their trauma inside of a courtroom,” he said.

Mr. White's attorney, Blaine Jones, said they agreed to the deal because it included the withdrawal of the most serious charges and Mr. White "wanted to admit his guilt."

Mr. White pleaded guilty before Common Pleas Judge Jill Rangos to having sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors and indecent assault in the first case.

He pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, institutional sexual assault of a minor, having intercourse with a student, corruption of minors, indecent assault of someone younger than 16 and furnishing alcohol to a minor in the second case.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
