Forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril H. Wecht will receive the Distinguished Forensic Scientist Award on Monday from the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven.

Dr. Wecht is former coroner and medical examiner of Allegheny County. He is also chairman of the advisory board to the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University.

"Dr. Wecht's professional and scholarly contributions for almost a half-century are truly outstanding," said Dr. Lee, a renowned criminalist with a long career in Connecticut law enforcement.

"As an active forensic pathologist and medical-legal consultant, former coroner and medical examiner, teacher and lecturer, author and editor, he has played a significant role in modern-day forensic science and legal medicine. We are pleased to recognize all of these accomplishments by presenting this Distinguished Forensic Scientist Award to Dr. Wecht."
