3 State System schools set enrollment records

Three state System of Higher Education universities -- Indiana, California and Slippery Rock -- have reported record enrollments this fall.

For the second consecutive year, Indiana University of Pennsylvania has broken its enrollment record with a fall 2010 enrollment of 15,126.

The school announced today that enrollment includes 3,128 freshmen, 680 transfer students, and 2,299 graduate students. Since 2007, enrollment has grown by more than 1,108 students, or 7.9 percent.

California University of Pennsylvania said its enrollment hit 9,400 this fall, an increase of 4.2 percent over last year. It is the 13th consecutive year of rising enrollment.

Slippery Rock reported a total of 8,852 students, an increase of 2.4 percent. It also noted its retention rates have increased.
