Republican state Attorney General Tom Corbett came from behind to win a second term as the state's top law enforcement officer, defeating Democrat John Morganelli.

Mr. Corbett, 59, is a former U.S. attorney for Western Pennsylvania who lives in Shaler. He ran on his record of creating a unit to catch child predators and battling consumer fraud.

Mr. Morganelli, 52, has been district attorney in Northampton County since 1992. He has criticized Mr. Corbett's handling of the continuing investigation into bonuses paid to state employees for campaign work, which so far has resulted the arrest of 12 Democratic office holders or staff members.

No Democrat has won this office since it became an elected post in 1980.
