MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Three of West Virginia University's 1,418 full-time professors are leaving, partly over the master's degree scandal involving President Mike Garrison and the governor's daughter.

Radiology professor Aina Puce is going to Indiana University.

History chairman Steve Zdatny is going to the University of Vermont.

And Brian Gerber, in the Division of Public Administration, is headed for Louisiana State University.

Ms. Puce says she has no confidence in leadership, including the Board of Governors, and will take her federal research funding to a school with academic integrity.

Mr. Zdatny says he wouldn't have sought another job if it hadn't been for the scandal.

Mr. Gerber says Garrison has created a negative climate he had to consider.
