City Councilman Jim Motznik is blogging, and Pittsburgh politics is a more perilous place.
The outspoken Overbrook Democrat today became one of politics early adopters of Web blogging, a six-year-old phenomenon in which a commentator posts thoughts and images online, usually unedited.
His move raises the question of whether the burgeoning blogosphere, already the scene of vitriolic commentary and rumor circulation, will become a tool of hand-to-hand political combat.
His first targets, in posts made this afternoon, were Councilman William Peduto and local blogger John McIntire. But Mr. Motznik stressed that no political topic would be off limits.
"I'm going to keep doing it whenever I need to set the record straight," he said. "Things I hear on the street that I know are accurate are going to go on."
A photo of his sewer-boot-clad feet is the symbol of his blog, which can be viewed at Motznikspeaksout.blogspot.com. That's because "with all of this blog crap" someone needs to counter falsehoods, he said.
