![]() Post-Gazette circulation on the rise, Audit Bureau says
Monday, October 29, 2001 By Dan Fitzpatrick, Post-Gazette Staff Writer
Daily circulation at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which earlier this year bucked national trends by rising while circulation at most major newspapers declined, has experienced another increase.
The latest Audit Bureau of Circulations report shows daily circulation at the newspaper rose 1,896, or 0.8 percent, to 242,141, in the six-month period ended Sept. 30, according the Chicago-based Audit Bureau of Circulations. Reports from other major newspapers will be available later today.
Sunday circulation at the PG dipped again -- it was off 2,610, or 0.6 percent, to 409,352. But the drop-off was half that of the previous six-month period, and comes against a backdrop of sharp declines in Sunday circulation at most major newspapers -- and smaller ones, too.
Sunday circulation at The Greensburg Tribune-Review, for example, fell 4.1 percent, or 7,945 copies, to 183,657 in the latest six-month period, the ABC said. That was on top of a 5.2 percent decline in the previous six-month period, the ABC said. Daily comparisons for the Tribune-Review were not available.
