When the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to Lernerville Speedway Tuesday for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s -- two 30-lap features -- sparks will fly as a battle for the points lead heats up.
Going to into an event this weekend at Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio, Tony Stewart Racing teammates, Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz are tied atop the series point standings.
Only 12 points behind Stewart's duo is longtime Lernerville favorite Sammy Swindell.
Not be counted out of the chase for the title is Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana and Kraig Kinser.
Arguably, the most unique event on the WoO schedule, the Silver Cup gives the drivers two chances at winning $10,000 on the same night.
"It is different and the fans seem to like it, and that's all that counts," Steve Kinser said. "No matter what we do, it's a track we run good at. I've been going there a long time and still enjoy it every time I go there."
Former Lernerville champions, Aliquippa's Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney, split the event in 2011.
Look for Danny Holtgraver, another former Lernerville champ, to make a bid for the top spots as he has been impressive so far in '12.
The action kicks off with a WoO autograph session at 6 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:15 p.m. and racing at 8. Go to www.lernerville.com for ticket information.
