Today's Springfield Moment ...

“22 Short Films About Springfield” (noon on FXX) and “The City of New York Vs. Homer Simpson” (3 a.m. Monday)

Say this about “The Simpsons”: It knows how to keep an ensemble cast of hundreds in its place. In this episode of rambling little stories, Apu, Skinner, Moe, Chief Wiggam, Snake and others get their (brief) due.

“The City of New York” has become a bit of a conspiracy theory favorite and not often aired. In this 1997 episode, the Simpsons visit the Big Apple to retrieve Homer’s car, which has been abandoned in the World Trade Center plaza due to unpaid parking tickets. At one point, Lisa holds up a magazine with a $9 price tag.

Positioned next to a shot of the Twin Towers, it looks as though it spells 9-11.

(The Post-Gazette will choose a Springfield Moment each day during FXX’s “Every. Simpsons. Ever.” marathon, continuing through Labor Day.)
