South Park native, Seton-LaSalle and Robert Morris University graduate Ryan Recker is joining the WTAE-TV morning broadcasts as a sports anchor/reporter. He'll be on at 4:30, 5 and 6 beginning Thursday.

"Coming back to Pittsburgh to cover sports is the ultimate in my career. There is no better television market to work in, and the fact that my family is here is icing on the cake," said Mr. Recker, who most recently was sports director for KVOA-TV in Tucson, Ariz., for six years.

• Ohio Township's John Hartle will be hosting an unusual party Thursday. He's the winner of the second annual WDVE Morning Show Porch Party contest and will have Sean McDowell, Randy Baumann and special guest, Pittsburgh native Bill Gardell of CBS's "Mike and Molly" at his place for the 4-7 p.m. live broadcast.

Contestants submitted video entries, which can be viewed at www.dve.com.

• Local CBS WDSY-FM (Y108) is one of the finalists in the best country station category of the annual National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio awards. WDSY is up against four other FM stations: KCLR (Columbia, Mo.), KKBQ (Houston), WGSQ (Cookeville, Tenn.) and WUSN (Chicago)

Winners will be announced Sept. 19.
