Post-Gazette roundup of 2014 high school musicals



The following is a list of high school musicals for 2014, plus information on the special events surrounding these annual rites of spring. If this list is missing upcoming performances, please send an email to magazine@post-gazette.com and the production will be added online.

Special events

• The 18th annual Westmoreland Night of the Stars is 6:45 p.m. May 7 at the Palace Theatre, Greensburg; 15 Westmoreland County high schools are entered (denoted by +).

• The 20th annual Henry Mancini Awards for Butler, Lawrence and Beaver counties is 7 p.m. May 21 at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, Midland; 32 schools are entered (denoted by @), including Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, which performed "The Wizard of Oz" last November.

• The 24th annual Gene Kelly Awards for Allegheny County high schools is 7:30 p.m. May 24 at the Benedum Center, Downtown; 29 schools are entered (denoted by *), including Shady Side Academy, which performed "Grease" in February.

• The male and female lead-actor winners at the Kelly and Mancini awards are eligible for the National High School Musical Theater Awards known as the Jimmys. The sixth annual week of workshops and performances leads up to a show and announcement of winners on June 30 in New York.
