St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland presents Amanda Plazek, organist of St. Mary of the Mount Church, in a free organ recital at 4 p.m. Information: 421-621-6082.

"Close As Family," part four of Kelli Stevens Kane's reading and conversation series about "Big George's Wylie Avenue: Wisdom of the Hill," will be performed at Trinity A.M.E. Church, 2700 Wylie Ave., the Hill District, at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Kane reads from her oral history manuscript, which celebrates the legacy of the Hill District in stories told by people who knew her late grandmother, Hill District matriarch Georgetta Holmes Stevens (aka Big George). Ms. Kane will encourage audience discussion on themes of family, community and home.

"This installment of the series will focus on people who, despite being unrelated by blood, did things to help each other that went above and beyond what might be expected even from a family member," she said.

The reading is free and will be videotaped.

"Dodge Intrepid & the Pages of Time" presents "Flight of the Librarian" at the Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Ave., at 10:30 p.m. The "Dodge Intrepid" radio show is a romp filled with wit, library techniques, time traveling and adventure. Harking back to the golden age of radio plays, "Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time is "a comedy/adventure serial complete with two-fisted heroes, resourceful sidekicks, nefarious villains, jaw dropping cliffhangers and a dash of local history all filtered through an affectionate, off-kilter sense of humor." A free public Art Activity Day will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the Leslie Park Pool, Butler and 46th streets, Lawrenceville. The decommissioned pool is the venue for a forthcoming exhibition of installation art, "Project Lido," by 13 artists who will be working during the day on site. The Mattress Factory museum will offer interactive and craft activities for children and adults. "Project Lido" artist Nina Barbuto will lead DIY-style activities that blend science and art. All ages may contribute to a large-scale chalk mural. CMU's Urban Design Studio will present PURIFLUME -- a huge mobile closed-loop walter filtration system that features elements found in municipal spray parks. A plein-air workshop will be held for adults, led by artists Martha Ressler and Gayle Beem (free but registration is required at http://lvpgh.com/business-news/plein-air-painting-workshop).
