Pittsburgh never got a House of Blues, the national club franchise owned by concert giant Live Nation. Instead, the city got a Stage AE, owned and operated by the Rooney family and Columbus promoter PromoWest Live, and it has worked its way into the Billboard list of “The Top 25 Most Popular Music Clubs in the U.S.”
Stage AE, which opened on the North Shore in 2010 and features both an indoor club and outdoor amphitheater, ranks at No. 24 with attendance of 124,013 between May 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014. PromoWest’s Columbus venue The LC Pavilion ranked slightly higher, at No. 22, with 128,975.
Live Nation commanded 21 out of the 25 spots on the Billboard list with its House of Blues and Fillmore venues. The top draw was House of Blues in Orlando, with attendance of 339,470.
