The Clarks have become regulars on the Stage AE season schedule, but this summer’s gig on July 12 will be special for Pittsburgh’s biggest-drawing band. It will be the CD Release Party for “Feathers & Bones,” the first new Clarks record in four years.
The Clarks have been known to cover "In My Gremlin," a song from the night’s opening act, Jimmer Podrasky. The Natrona Heights native founded The Rave-Ups while a CMU student in the late ‘70s. The cowpunk band became part of the punk scene here before graduating and heading to LA where the band appeared in “Pretty in Pink” and signed to a major label for the release of “The Book of Your Regrets” in 1987.
After a long hiatus from the music scene, Mr. Podrasky released his excellent debut solo album, “The Would-Be Plans,” earlier this year. For his first performance here in 24 years he will be backed by a local band featuring Rod Schwartz (11th Hour), Dave Klug (Hector in Paris), Steve Morrison (Affordable Floors) and Steve Seel (The Reckoning, Callan). They will also play the Pittsburgh Winery on July 11.
Tickets ($25/$28) for the Stage AE show go on sale Saturday at all Ticketmaster locations. Charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
