The DreamOn Festival, holding court this weekend in Market Square, Downtown, combines two of our favorite things: music and ice cream.

Presented by Omicelo and Dream Cream Ice Cream, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, the DreamOn Festival showcases a couple dozen musical acts and 75 flavors of Dream Cream, which started as a Pop Up Project on Liberty Avenue in 2012.

Friday is opening night with electronic/hip-hop duo The Foreign Exchange (rapper/singer Phonte Coleman and Dutch producer Nicolay), and it runs through Sunday with the bluesy 28 North, hip-hop rockers Formula 412, roots rockers Chet Vincent & the Big Bend, singer-songwriters Jasmine Tate and Emily Rodgers, indie-rockers Falling Andes and more.

Festival hosts include Pittsburgh native Margot Bingham (who plays Daughter Maitland on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire"), model Tunisha Hubbard and comedian J. Russ.

Ice cream customers will designate 25 percent of their purchase to one of 75 local causes, or dreams.

Emmai Alaquiva of Ya Momz House will capture the festival on film, streaming at www.omicelo.com.

Saturday will feature a preconcert red carpet film screening of "The End Again," starring Columbus Short and Tanee McCall-Short, at Wood Street Galleries, Downtown. The Foreign Exchange, who contributed music, will join the filmmakers for a preconcert talk-back session.
