Summer Times: Summer concerts are abundant

Here's who's coming this summer: EVERYONE.

Except the Rolling Stones ... and that Neutral Milk Hotel reunion.

At least that's the way it looks from the concert calendar, which is stacked.

We have a lot of the usual suspects on the way: Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, just about anyone with a cowboy hat.

And then there are some fresh faces, both from the indie side (Of Monsters and Men, Belle and Sebastian) and the teen-pop one (Bruno Mars, .fun, Pitbull, Ke$ha and that One Direction show that went on sale, like, three years ago).

Also:

• Taylor Swift is back after a two-year absence.

• If she's not country enough for you, there are plenty of others to fill that role, from Tim McGraw to relative newcomers Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.

• Maroon 5 is doing its first show here in three years, as are John Mayer and Brad Paisley, whose stadium concert here was canceled in 2011.

• Mr. Smalls has a special run of shows celebrating its 10th anniversary, including Metric, the Bloc Party and Anti-Flag.

• With the addition of Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller, there are now four outdoor hip-hop shows. Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne being the other two.

• Classic rock isn't the dominant force it once was, but there are handful for the 'DVE crowd, including Styx/REO/Nugent, Heart/Jason Bonham and Bad Company/Lynyrd Skynyrd.

• There's a whiff of '90s nostalgia in the air with the return of Soundgarden, a Matchbox Twenty/Goo Goo Dolls bill and two shows that split off from that canceled cruise: Sugar Ray's Under the Sun Tour and Everclear's Summerland Tour.

• If it all seems too sunny and upbeat, Alice Cooper and his creepy disciple Marilyn Manson are joining forces for an evening of evil rock.
