Five short films will have their Pittsburgh premieres at the second annual Robinson International Short Film Competition at 7:30 p.m. May 8 at the SouthSide Works Cinema.
One filmmaker will receive the first prize of $10,000 and two honorable mentions also will be awarded along with $3,000 each; the names of the winners will be revealed that night.
The event, honoring the memory of Sanford N. Robinson Sr., is being presented by JFilm: The Pittsburgh Jewish Film Forum.
Judy Robinson and her children, Heather and David, screen entries and help to select the winners, with the aid of a panel of judges.
Submissions had to contain an essence of Jewishness in theme, history or culture.
The five finalists emerged from 29 entries ranging from five to 40 minutes each.
