The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

'Jurassic Park 3-D'

Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: Children roughly 9 years old and up.

What you should know: The 1993 blockbuster has been converted to 3-D and returned to theaters. Still relevant is the question about how old children should be before seeing it and, as always, that is an individual matter but it can be scary, is 127 minutes long and requires the wearing of 3-D glasses throughout.

Language: At least one use of profanity and about a dozen mild four-letter words.

Sexual situations and nudity: None.

Violence/scary situations: Lots, with adults and children in peril, and one person in particular vividly gobbled by a dinosaur. A girl and boy are menaced by dinosaurs as they're trapped in a kitchen or in a car. A child is thrown from an electrified fence and must be revived through CPR. A severed arm is what remains of one victim. Animals are fed to dinosaurs as food, there is a raging storm and some of the biggest frights come courtesy of the sound of the creatures.

Alcohol and drug use: Celebratory champagne is popped.
