If you'd like to turn your home into a winter wonderland but have little imagination and even less time, Christmas Decor is the best present you can give yourself this holiday season.
The company has been around since 1986, but the local franchise was started by Maury Frankel two years ago. Although not inexpensive (the average cost is $1,300), Christmas Decor by E.L.F. Designs does it all for you in ways that make it worth the investment.
It begins with photographs of the home as it would look with Christmas Decor lights and decorations. The customer is given a menu of options -- roof, fascia and window lighting, lit garlands and wreaths, fence and stake lighting along the driveway and other choices. The homeowners choose what they want and sign on for a three-year program. The price decreases by 10 percent to 13 percent each year, and after the third year, the customer may keep the lights (which are custom cut for each house) or have them donated.
"Service calls are more expensive than replacing some of the product," says Mr. Frankel, which is why the company uses new lights after three years. It provides everything necessary for a great display including extension cords, timers, greens, garlands and wreaths pre-lit with LED lights. "The savings using LED is about 80 percent. We've developed a warm white as well as a winter white, which is the more blue. Everything is professionally installed and we guarantee everything we do. We'll even replace a burned out light bulb within 24 hours!"
And when the holidays are over, Mr. Frankel shifts gears to Nite Time Decor, which specializes in landscape lighting,
