The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

'The Bourne Legacy'

Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: High school students and older, although unless you've seen the previous movies, you may be hopelessly lost. Even if you have watched the first three, you may be somewhat confused by the convoluted story.

What you should know: Matt Damon does not appear in this fourth installment. Instead, Jeremy Renner does the heavy lifting, and he's joined by Rachel Weisz as a researcher involved in creating "super soldiers" and Edward Norton as a retired colonel who built and now wants to destroy various covert operations.

Language: One f-word, three or four uses of profanity and at least a dozen milder four-letter words.

Sexual situations and nudity: Other than a shirtless man, none.

Violence/scary situations: This is where the movie earns its rating, with deadly explosions and fires, pills that kill within seconds, a man wrestling with a teeth-baring wolf, a workplace massacre in which a man starts shooting and killing his co-workers, other extended exchanges of gunfire and physical blows, and high-speed chase scenes.

Alcohol and drug use: Nothing notable.
