The Pittsburgh-based company Duolingo and a musical tribute to Fred Rogers, "Mister Rogers Remixed: Garden of Your Mind," won Webby Awards on Tuesday.

The Webbys recognize achievements across the spectrum of digital media, including websites, TV and film, social media, mobile and advertising. The 17th annual awards ceremony will be held May 22 and will stream on the Webbys site starting at 9 a.m., with comedian and actor Patton Oswalt as host.

There are two sets of awards. The Webbys are chosen by a panel of judges, and the People's Awards are chosen through online voting that is open to the public.

Duolingo, which does online translation and language learning services -- won the People's Voice award in the education and reference (handheld devices/mobile and apps) category. Duolingo was created at Carnegie Mellon University.

"Mister Rogers Remixed: Garden of Your Mind," a musical tribute to the late children's TV host produced by PBS Digital Studios, won a Webby Award in the Video Remixes/Mashups category.

This year's achievement award winners: Webby Person of the Year -- hip-hop artist Frank Ocean; Outstanding Comedic Performance -- Jerry Seinfeld for the Web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee"; Special Achievement -- Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, executive producers of the Netflix original series "House of Cards"; Breakout of the Year -- The Obama for America 2012 Campaign; Artist of the Year -- musician Grimes; Special Achievement -- "Burning Love" and its team; Athlete of the Year -- Chris Kluwe; Lifetime Achievement -- Steve Wilhite, inventor of the GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image file format.
