Never underestimate the power of a superhero.

The actor Robert Downey Jr. catapulted Marvel movie franchises into the stratosphere with a series of successful “Iron Man” movies and the megahit “Avengers” film. He also has a Facebook following of more than 19.5 million. So today, when he posted his discovery that the police chief of Green Tree also was named Robert Downey Jr., people took notice.

An hour after the actor wrote “I'm a Chief of Police? Why didn't anyone tell me?!,” with a link to the Post-Gazette story about Chief Downey‘‍s hiring, the post had nearly 13,000 likes, and the PG article from Dec. 4, 2012, shot to No. 1 for people clicking on post-gazette.com.
