Calliope, the Pittsburgh Folk Music Society, holds its second annual Blues at the Crossroads Sunday at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, perhaps just incidentally at the crossroads of Fifth and Shady Avenues.
There will also be an afternoon guitar workshop, and as Calliope notes, beer to go with the blues. The best kind of double-header. Beware, the blues is not only at the crossroads, but outdoors, or at least, under a tent. Bring your Canned Heat.
Don't forget Cleveland Fats at the Thunderbird friday, backed by house band The Pawnbrokers:
Blues from Cleveland
Mark Hahn, better known in music circles as Cleveland Fats, and also as the bandmate and friend of the late and legendary Robert Lockwood Jr., will be at the Thunderbird Cafe in Lawrenceville tonight. Maybe you can check out his last set after listening to the good old Chicago blues of the Muddy Waters blues band and David "Honeyboy" Edwards at the Carnegie Museum Music Hall at 8 in Oakland.
