The late Patti Burns will be honored May 14 at Radio Information Service's volunteer recognition night. Her widower, lawyer Chuck Cohen, will accept the Charles T. Campbell Award in her honor.
Burns volunteered at the service after leaving KDKA-TV, although she was required to take an audition first. Burns was also chairwoman of the annual Guide Dog Walkathon for two years. The event, scheduled for Oct. 20 this year, will be renamed "The Patti Burns Memorial Guide Dog Walkathon."
KDKA-TV airs 'Honeymooners'
In conjunction with Monday's "The Honeymooners 50th Anniversary Celebration" on CBS, local affiliate KDKA will broadcast episodes of the classic series from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
KDKA radio's Larry Richert will host the marathon.
