Penguins 4, Rangers 3, OT

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Jaromir Jagr returned to the Pittsburgh lineup after missing four games and scored a fluke goal 25 seconds into overtime to give the Penguins a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

The Penguins are unbeaten in four games (3-0-1) since a 0-4-2 streak. The Rangers lost for the first time in overtime after tying seven other games.

Jagr fought off defenseman Ulf Samuelson, circled behind the net and the puck went in off Rangers defenseman Steve Finley's skate. He came back after sitting out four games with a hip flexor.

Despite playing their fourth road game in five nights, the Rangers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third. Both goals were set up by Pat LaFontaine.

LaFontaine, who has a five-game scoring streak that includes 13 points, set up Adam Graves on a power play at 8:06 of the third. LaFontaine wheeled in the left circle and backhanded a pass to Graves, who beat Tom Barrasso from close range.

The Penguins left LaFontaine unchecked behind the net at 11:43. He was able to grab a loose puck and feed a pass to Tim Sweeney, who scored his fifth to tie the game.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, Pitsburgh scored three times in 5:25 of the second.

Brad Werenka got his first goal in 15 games this season on a power play at 8:20 of the second. Rob Brown sent a pass through the crease from the right corner and Werenka moved up on the left side to fire the puck past Richter.

Alex Hicks gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead at 10:13, a play that started when Peter Ferraro jumped on Brian Leetch's turnover. Richter stopped Chris Ferraro's shot but Hicks was able to backhand the rebound in off New York's Nicklas Sundstrom.

Stu Barnes got the Penguins' third goal at 13:45. Defenseman Neil Wilkinson bumped Kevin Stevens off the puck and skated down the right side. Barnes one-timed his pass for his fifth goal.

LaFontaine had the only goal of the first period. He worked a give-and-go with Leetch on a power play and wristed a shot past Barrasso's stick.
