Winning a Stanley Cup is not a piece of cake, but hockey fans can get a piece of the Pittsburgh-Detroit rivalry by buying cupcakes at shops in each city.
Cupcake Station in Birmingham, Mich., challenged CoCo's Cupcake Cafe in Shadyside to a competition to see who has more fans. Each shop is selling home-team-themed cupcakes and for every one they sell, they chalk up a "goal" (at noon yesterday, Detroit was up 228 to 145).
The shop with the most points at the end of the series will be the winner of, what else? "The Stanley CUPcake."
As CoCo's Shea Mullen put it, "We want to beat Detroit on the ice and with the icing!"

Bakeries across the region are feeding Cup fever, including Bethel Park's Bethel Bakery, which once again is selling its "No-Cut Stanley Cup Cake," made from 24 individual cupcakes (bethelbakery.com).
